Gallion / Galyean Family History

Many genealogists have tracked our family, spelled "Gallion" at the time, back to Maryland in the mid-1600s when they arrived from England. Some have gone as far back as John Galland, born in Berkshire England in 1550.

Joseph Gallion is said to have been the original Gallion immigrant to America. Joseph was born in London about 1633 to William and Joan Palmer Gallion and traveled to Maryland in 1664 to plant tobacco. Accuracy across such a long span is never certain, but here's what the direct line may have been.

For well over 300 years, Kevin descended down the male Galyean family line. As shown above, his great-great-grandmother Ama Galyean married into the Nichols family. Two generations later, his grandmother, Clarease Nichols, married into the Ireland family.

If this record is correct, John Galland was Kevin's 11th-great-grandfather - and was born more than 400 years before Kevin.
