Attractions
Thanks, Suzie, for the following write-up:
Estes Park, as we all know, is a destination at the entrance of
Rocky Mt National Park that has been enjoyed by all branches of
the Ireland family for over 70 years. Grandma and Grandpa
honeymooned here, and family reunions have been enjoyed for
many years by kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Some of the
favorite activities have included climbing to the summit of
14,000 ft. Long’s Peak (many in the family have accomplished
this feat), scaling other mountains in the area, hiking many trails,
fishing at Trout Haven for the kids, enjoying bumper
cars and boats, the Big Slide, riding horseback at the Y,
picnicking at Wild Basin and Sprague’s Lake, taking rides
in the evening to see elk and deer, driving Trail Ridge
Road, and many more. Gazing at the beautiful scenery is
a favorite pastime, as is shopping in the village and consuming
more than our share of caramel corn, salt water taffy, and more.
It is a place where many wonderful family memories have been
made, and a place of the heart for many, including Grandma.
